Application Message
Features and advantages:
Rheological aids improve the orientation of effect pigments and reduce cloud block patches / spots; less settlement of coatings in storage and processing; lower cosolvent sensitivity than polyurethane thickener; easier addition and handling (immediate use) than bentonite and acrylic thickener; ideal for improving rheological properties and using the brightness of the co-solvent-free effect pigment paste.
Application field
Automotive coatings (special recommended); industrial coatings (special recommended); wood furniture coatings (recommended); leather finishes (recommended).
Recommended dosage
The 5-10% Aid dosage (purchased form) is based on the total formulation.
The above data are the empirical amount, and the optimal amount should be determined by a series of tests.
Add method guidance
This product shall be added at a low shear rate after the effect pigment addition. No dilution with water in advance. Since the PH of the system is reduced, the QK8521 is acidic. It is therefore recommended to adjust the PH to 9 – 9.5 before adding additives. The higher the cosolvent content of the formulation, the more PH. The final viscosity cannot be adjusted with a viscosity cup, but can be used with a rotating viscosity meter (e. g., a Brookfield viscometer).
